XChat Standalone Messaging App Unavailable on Apple App Store
X’s standalone messaging app XChat is currently unavailable on the Apple App Store, according to 9to5Mac. The Android version appears to remain available on Google Play, and the reason for the iOS absence is unclear.
The app launched earlier this year as a standalone version of direct messaging between X users. That made XChat a dedicated messaging product rather than a feature inside the main X app. The report did not say when the App Store listing became unavailable, why it disappeared, or whether the change is temporary.
9to5Mac said the Android version did not appear to be affected. It did not include any public comment from X or Apple about the App Store status of XChat. The report also did not say whether existing installations of the iPhone or iPad app are affected, or whether users can still access the service through the app if it is already on their devices.
At the time of the report, the main confirmed difference between the two platforms was availability: XChat could not be found on Apple’s App Store for iPhone and iPad, while it appeared to remain available on Google Play for Android users.
