Xiaomi 18 Fold surfaces again in real-world images ahead of September launch
New leaked photos of the Xiaomi 18 Fold show a dark red finish and triple-camera setup, with the device expected to debut in September featuring Xiaomi's in-house XRing O3 chipset.
The images, shared by a Weibo user named Peter, show the device from multiple angles, including a top-down view with a color-matched case. Unlike earlier leaks that covered the camera module, these photos reveal the full camera island, which appears to feature a triple-rear-camera setup. The design bears a strong resemblance to the HUAWEI Pura X Max, the first wide-folding phone to hit the market, according to Android Authority.
9to5Mac, which also reported on the leak, noted that the dark red shade, described as "dark cherry," may have been inspired by rumored color options for the iPhone 18 Pro. The site added that the unit in the photos is likely an engineering prototype rather than a final production model.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold will be the first phone to feature Xiaomi's in-house XRing O3 processor. While full specifications have not been confirmed, the leaked images suggest a triple-camera arrangement on the rear. Xiaomi has said the phone will launch sometime in September, but has not announced a specific date.
The leak comes as competition in the wide-screen foldable market intensifies. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 has seen strong sales in its home market, and Apple is expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone, reportedly called the iPhone Ultra, next month. Xiaomi's device is positioned to join this segment with a similar book-style form factor.
