Ahead of the launch, Xiaomi has detailed both 200MP sensors and released specifications for each, according to Android Authority. The camera system is described by Xiaomi as a Leica-backed "dual 200MP ultra-clear" setup, and it includes an AI-backed enhancement feature that the company says makes images look similar to those shot with actual cameras.

According to Android Authority, the primary 200MP sensor is slightly larger than the main camera on Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra, and also larger than the sensor that has been rumored for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The comparison is the outlet's own, based on the specifications Xiaomi has published.

The two phones follow an iPhone 17 Pro-like design, but the camera island is not left dormant. Xiaomi uses it for a secondary display, which wraps around the two 200MP cameras, the primary unit and the periscopic telephoto. The third sensor, an ultrawide-angle camera, sits below that display.

Xiaomi has been releasing teasers in the run-up to the event, and Android Authority reported that the implementation of the privacy display on the upcoming phones has made a strong impression.

The launch follows Xiaomi's most recent foldable, which Android Authority described as a better device than the iPhone Duo.

Xiaomi has not announced pricing or availability for the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, and the full specifications beyond the two 200MP sensors have not been disclosed.
