Xiaomi's Redmi Note 17 Pro Max launches globally with a massive 10,000mAh battery
Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max globally at $499, featuring a huge 10,000mAh battery that lasts up to three days, though European models get a slightly smaller 9,210mAh cell.
The battery uses silicon-carbon technology with 16 percent silicon content, which Xiaomi says should retain 80 percent of its capacity over 1,600 charging cycles, roughly six years of use. The phone supports 100W wired charging, reaching a full charge in just over an hour, or providing about a day's worth of power in 20 minutes. The Verge reported that the phone is thinner and 8 grams lighter than an iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Other specifications include a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, a 6.83-inch OLED display protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and an IP69K rating. The cameras are a typical compromise for a Redmi phone: a 50-megapixel main sensor with a relatively small sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide, and a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
The Note 17 Pro Max is the top model in a series of four new Redmi Note 17 phones. It goes on sale in Europe, Australia, Latin America, and other global markets, excluding the US, at the local equivalent of $499. Even the entry-level $249, 4G-only Note 17 includes a 7,700mAh battery and a 6.99-inch OLED screen with IP65 protection.
The Verge noted that the 9,210mAh battery in the European version is the largest Xiaomi has ever put in a phone sold in Europe, while some other markets get the even larger 10,000mAh single-cell design. Android Authority highlighted that the phone's battery capacity nearly doubles that of mainstream flagships like the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which top out around 7,000mAh. In its endurance tests, the Redmi outlasted the OnePlus 15, a current flagship pick, and delivered nearly double the screen-on time of some mid-range competitors.
