Xiaomi Vision GT to Join GT7 as First Chinese VGT; GT Adds First Electric Driving Tutorial
At the Gran Turismo World Series in Singapore, Xiaomi and Gran Turismo announced that Xiaomi Vision GT will join GT7 in October as the first Chinese-brand VGT, alongside GT's first electric driving tutorial using the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and Xiaomi Vision GT.
Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi and Jean-Arthur Madelaine, design lead at Xiaomi Auto's Europe R&D Center, made the announcement on stage. The two also held an on-site dialogue about vehicle development and electric driving experience. Players will be able to use the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and Xiaomi Vision GT to complete dedicated training tasks in the new tutorial.
VGT (Vision Gran Turismo) is a signature concept-car project the Gran Turismo series launched in 2013, inviting top global automakers to design concept supercars exclusively for the game. More than a decade after its start, Bugatti, Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren and Toyota are among the participating brands, with 50 VGT models released. Xiaomi is the 36th brand invited to join the VGT project, the first Chinese brand, and the first technology company to take part.
Xiaomi VGT made its global debut at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2026, unveiled by Li Tianyuan, chief designer of Xiaomi Auto. In April, the physical car appeared at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition and drew attention. From the MWC debut to the GT World Series launch announcement, Xiaomi VGT completed a full cycle from design release to the announcement of its game launch in less than a year.
The car's core design concept is “sculpted by wind.” It removes deliberately carved edges and additional aerodynamic kits. The cockpit is shaped like a suspended water drop. Every surface is aerodynamically optimized, and every structural part uses an airfoil section design. Aerodynamic designs previously validated on Xiaomi SU7 and Xiaomi YU7 are further strengthened in the VGT: cross-shaped headlights also serve a ducting function; the halo taillight is integrated into the rear duct; and an active wake control system helps the car achieve an aerodynamic efficiency value of 4.1 and a drag coefficient of 0.29.
Xiaomi also proposes a “Sofa Racer” driving philosophy. Built around a circular symbiotic cockpit, the car integrates AI capabilities from Super Xiao Ai and the Xiaomi MiMo large model. It can actively perceive and identify driver intent and connect seamlessly into Xiaomi's human-car-home ecosystem. Yamauchi previously said of Xiaomi VGT: “The overall design remains simple while showing an indescribable, extremely sexy curve. It will become a model of this era.”
Yamauchi said that since the car's physical appearances at MWC Barcelona and the Beijing auto show, Xiaomi VGT has received strong attention from global racing fans, and players' expectations to drive it in the game became a core motivation for both sides to accelerate the project. Jean described the car as a future driver's car “sculpted by wind” that pursues a perfect balance between drag and downforce. In the game, he said, it can maintain very high speed and extremely high stability, and its overall performance is very smooth.
At the end of the dialogue, the two sides announced that GT7 will launch an electric driving tutorial. Players can complete the dedicated training with the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and Xiaomi Vision GT. It is the first electric-specific driving teaching content in the 30-year history of Gran Turismo, a step that the partners said marks GT racing's full embrace of the electric era. Xiaomi is one of the core brands driving that process. Through the GT platform, tens of millions of racing fans worldwide will be able to feel the technology and driving appeal of Chinese electric vehicles more directly.
Xiaomi Auto has completed three landmarks in global racing culture in less than a year: the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra entered GT7 as the first Chinese production car; Xiaomi VGT became the first Chinese-brand VGT; and the company helped launch the industry's first electric driving tutorial module. In the future, GT7 players will be able to drive the Chinese pure-electric concept supercar on classic tracks including Nürburgring, Le Mans and Suzuka. Xiaomi Auto said it will continue to use original design language and technology to push Chinese automotive industrial design onto the core stage of global racing culture.
