Xteink X4 Pro e-reader hits best price of $84.15 at Amazon
The Xteink X4 Pro e-reader is $84.15 at Amazon, matching its Prime Day price, according to The Verge.
The X4 Pro has an 800 x 480 E Ink display, making it significantly smaller and thinner than Amazon's smallest six-inch Kindle, according to The Verge. It is also cheaper. The device includes a touchscreen and still has physical page-turning buttons. A new touch-sensitive button below the display provides a quick way to return to the home screen, and a built-in light offers adjustable brightness and color temperature for reading in the dark.
The e-reader ships with CrossPoint Reader software. The Verge calls the software excellent and says it makes navigating a library and reading books a better experience than on previous Xteink models tested, though it is still not quite as polished as Amazon's software. The Verge notes that not everyone likes Xteink's decision to replace the X4 Pro's USB-C port with a proprietary charging connector. If buyers can look past that, The Verge describes the X4 Pro as a great, little e-reader.
The X4 Pro also has magnets that let it attach to compatible smartphones, as previous models did. The Verge says the magnetic connection is stronger this time around, though it still wishes the connection were a little more secure. The Verge's Andrew Liszewski still considers the X4 Pro the best tiny e-reader available, calling it a device he "won't leave the house without." The Verge has published hands-on impressions of the device.
