Yamaha returns to compact streaming hi-fi with WXC-70A and WXA-70A, arriving in November
Yamaha unveils two compact streaming hi-fi components, the WXC-70A streamer and WXA-70A with built-in amplification, both due in November 2026.
The WXC-70A is a compact network streamer priced at £859 (about $1,170, AU$1,700). It is designed to connect and enhance household audio devices such as turntables, speakers, and TVs. A built-in calibration microphone analyzes the room to optimize acoustic output. Users control the device via Yamaha's MusicCast app, which manages sources and outputs and supports Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, AirPlay, and Roon Ready. It can also integrate with smart home systems.
Connectivity on the WXC-70A includes RCA, optical, HDMI (including eARC), USB-A, ethernet, and Bluetooth inputs, while outputs include RCA, optical, coax, a subwoofer out, plus Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
The WXA-70A adds built-in amplification and costs £1,199 (about $1,630, AU$2,400). It shares the same dimensions as the WXC-70A at 22 x 26.7 x 7.3cm, but weighs 2.6kg compared to the streamer's 1.9kg. It offers the same calibration microphone, controls, MusicCast support, smart home connectivity, and largely the same inputs and outputs. The key difference is its amplifier, which delivers 70 watts per channel at 8 ohms or 105 watts per channel at 4 ohms, making it suitable for bookshelf or floorstanding speakers.
TechRadar notes that Yamaha recently also unveiled streaming stereo speakers with built-in connections for those seeking an even simpler setup.
