Yamaha Unveils B200A Compact Dolby Atmos Soundbar at $249.99

The B200A undercuts Yamaha's True X Surround 90A, which launched earlier this year. It follows a run of audio releases from the company: compact home streamers announced two weeks before the soundbar, and a set of active speakers introduced a few months earlier, TechRadar reported.

The US price converts to roughly £200 or AU$400, but Yamaha has not confirmed release dates outside the United States. Landing pages for the soundbar have appeared on Yamaha's international sites, which TechRadar said makes a global rollout likely without indicating when it would happen.

Yamaha calls the B200A a compact soundbar, the only product on its website carrying that label. It weighs 1.8kg and measures 23-5/8 by 2-1/2 by 3-3/4 inches, or 60 by 10.2 by 6.4cm. Promotional images show the unit connected to computers as well as televisions.

Inside, the bar uses two 1.8-inch 20W drivers for the left and right channels and a built-in three-inch 30W subwoofer, forming a 2.1-channel system. Connections include eARC, optical and 3.5mm ports, plus Bluetooth 5.3, with wireless control handled through Yamaha's Sound Bar Remote app.

The soundbar carries a Clear Voice function intended to make dialogue easier to hear, and a Game Sound Mode that emphasizes quieter audio cues such as footsteps, incoming attacks and power-up sounds. Four EQ modes are available: Standard, Movie, Stereo and Game.

At $249.99, the B200A sits below most Dolby Atmos soundbars on the market. TechRadar noted that its own budget pick, Sony's HT-S2000, sells for about twice that amount in the US, although it is cheaper in other markets and is regularly discounted in the US.
