Yamaha unveils B200A compact soundbar with Dolby Atmos for $250
Yamaha has introduced the B200A, a 23.5-inch Dolby Atmos soundbar with a built-in subwoofer, four preset modes and Bluetooth, due in November for $250, Engadget reported.
The speaker measures 23.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches high. It can be mounted on a wall to free up surface space, and its size allows it to sit beneath most desktop displays for use with a gaming setup. Yamaha says the B200A can produce "3D immersive sound" despite its small dimensions and its driver count of two plus a subwoofer.
The subwoofer is built in, which Yamaha says helps reinforce lower frequencies, and a Bass Extender option provides additional low-end output. Four preset modes are included for different listening situations. The soundbar also carries Clear Voice technology, intended to keep dialogue intelligible when background audio or music is playing.
The feature set is otherwise sparse. Wired connections consist of a single HDMI port and a 3.5mm audio jack, and Bluetooth is available for streaming audio from a phone. Engadget described setup as uncomplicated and said the unit should pair readily with a television or gaming monitor.
At $250, the B200A sits above the cheapest soundbars on the market but well below the most expensive, according to Engadget, which called it a promising option for buyers who want Dolby Atmos without spending a large amount.
Yamaha has not disclosed further specifications, such as supported HDMI formats, power output or the availability of additional color options.
