YuanDian Teases Open-Source Robot Ecosystem; Zhiyuan Takes 18 Golds at Humanoid Games
YuanDian teases open-source robot ecosystem and ¥8,888 humanoid; Zhiyuan gets 18 golds with mass-produced robots.
YuanDian said OpenBridge is an open-source base system built for humanoid robots, with all code available to developers. It plans to provide a Skill Hub where models, data and action chains can be packaged as installable “skills,” similar to smartphone apps, and can be sold or shared by developers. YuanDian also said it will open a Bridge Builder program to recruit 500 researchers, developers and enthusiasts worldwide, with 200 selected as “bridge builders.” The company likened the effort to the “Android moment” for embodied intelligence, saying it aims to connect developers and users through an open ecosystem rather than winning with a single closed product.
The first hardware designed to carry OpenBridge is the Zeroth Bridge humanoid, nicknamed “Xiao Qiao.” The robot weighs 12 kg, stands 88 cm tall and can be handled by one person. It uses self-developed high-performance motor modules and can perform backflips, expressive dancing and full-body teleoperation, with all underlying interfaces open for secondary development. According to Leiphone.com, the hardware-only geek edition is priced at 8,888 yuan during the initial sales period. YuanDian also disclosed plans for a family edition with soft fabric covers and added features such as obstacle avoidance, navigation, daily conversation, food ordering and pet photo recording.
At the World Humanoid Robot Games, Zhiyuan became the event’s biggest winner in both overall and gold medal counts. Leiphone.com reported that all of Zhiyuan’s entries were production units rather than custom-built showcase prototypes. The Lingxi X2 won gold in the 100-meter obstacle race and silver and bronze in the 400-meter obstacle race; the Yuanzheng A3 captured five golds in table tennis, dance and martial arts; the commercial OmniHand dexterous hand won seven of eight golds in hand-specific contests; and in the scenario segment covering hotels, libraries and emergency response, Zhiyuan won six of the 12 golds. Zhiyuan attributed the results to its “three intelligences and one body” architecture, combining GO-series models for reasoning and task planning, WITA-series models for interaction, a motion-control model, and robot hardware families across Yuanzheng, Lingxi and Jingling.
According to Leiphone.com, more than 75% of Zhiyuan’s R&D staff and budget are allocated to its AI brain. Before the competition, Zhiyuan’s Jingling G2 robots had been deployed at Longqi and SAIC factories, completing 17,625 operations in six days with a 99.99% success rate and output close to a 1:1 ratio with human workers. Leiphone.com said the game results show that even Zhiyuan’s ordinary production robots can guarantee high-level performance in real-world scenarios, and that the company is moving beyond laboratory displays toward so-called “deployment-state” operations.
