Daishin, Mirae Asset and Bithumb report customer data breaches
Daishin Securities said hackers leaked personal data of 38,490 customers, while Mirae Asset Global Investments and Bithumb also reported breaches.
Daishin said names, e-mail addresses and mobile phone numbers were found to have been leaked after the brokerage detected signs of unauthorized access by hackers last week. The brokerage said it has been investigating the case with authorities and has notified customers of the leak. It said it will compensate customers in accordance with law if the data breach causes damage.
Bithumb also suffered a leak of some customer personal information through a cyber attack by an external party, according to an industry source cited by Yonhap. The report did not specify how many Bithumb customers were affected or what data was involved.
Financial authorities have begun an inspection into the data breach at Mirae Asset Global Investments, Yonhap reported. The report did not provide further details on the scope of that breach or the number of customers affected.
The three cases were reported the same day. Daishin's disclosure followed its detection of unauthorized access last week and its investigation with authorities, the brokerage said.
