Dynabook V83/PA convertible weighs 989g and stores a charging stylus inside

Dynabook's 989g V83/PA convertible stores and charges its stylus inside, with a 13.3-inch WUXGA touchscreen and estimated 28.5-hour idle battery life.

The 13.3-inch LCD touchscreen has 1920 × 1200 WUXGA resolution, and the convertible design lets users switch between laptop and tablet modes. The machine measures about 298.8 × 212 × 18.8mm, has rounded rear edges, a Dark Tech Blue finish and an enlarged touchpad.

It includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one on each side, plus two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet and a 3.2mm audio socket. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4; optional mobile broadband configurations support 4G or 5G networks.

The keyboard has spill protection for about 30cc of liquid, but users must shut down the computer after an accidental spill, according to the report.

Dynabook has not disclosed the battery capacity. It estimates 28.5 hours of idle use and 16 hours of video playback. TechRadar noted that the 989g weight and battery endurance are manufacturer estimates and have not been verified by independent tests.

The V83/PA is offered with Intel Core Ultra 7 365, Core Ultra 7 355, Core Ultra 5 335 or Core Ultra 5 325 processors, 16GB or 32GB of RAM, 512GB or 1TB of SSD storage and Windows 11 Pro. Dynabook says its proprietary AI tool can translate and summarize onscreen content when a user circles information with a finger or stylus, processing locally rather than sending selected content to external servers. It also supports AI noise cancellation and Windows Studio Effects for video conferencing, and Empower Technology to sustain processor performance under demanding workloads.

Camera options include a 5MP front sensor with facial recognition or a 0.92MP front camera, plus a rear camera rated at about 8MP. A fingerprint reader is also available. Security features include Secured-Core PC conformity, NIST SP800-171 support and a proprietary security manager that protects the BIOS.

The V83/PA starts at ¥1,057,320, roughly $6,740, for the base configuration; a version with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage will likely cost considerably more. TechRadar wrote that comparable processors and memory are available in many premium convertibles and ultralight laptops for less, though few store a charging stylus inside the body. It said the V83/PA depends on its low weight and built-in pen to justify a price that is hard to defend for otherwise fairly typical specifications.
