iOS 27.2 Gives Apple Music a Black-and-White Icon and Drops Its Signature Red
Apple's iOS 27.2 update swaps Apple Music's red branding for a black-and-white icon, blue active tabs, restyled widgets and an all-lowercase logo, according to 9to5Mac.
In light mode the new icon is white with a black music note; in dark mode it inverts to black with a white note. The red that had long identified the streaming service is gone from the default icon.
Inside the Music app, the tab bar now shows the currently active tab in blue rather than red. Widgets for the app use plain black backgrounds in place of the earlier red.
The Library tab's list of sections, which includes Playlists, Albums, Artists and Songs, has also lost its color and now uses a black-and-white design. Apple's curated playlists and stations throughout the app carry the updated logo, drawn in a bolder typeface with all-lowercase styling.
The changes follow a wider branding refresh Apple introduced for Apple Music last week. Signs of it surfaced in September, when a new logo appeared for Apple Music Hall, and the mark subsequently spread to the service's social media accounts. The iPhone app icon is the latest surface to adopt the look.
Apple Music is priced at $11.99 a month. It is also available as part of the Apple One bundle.
