iOS 27 Launch Next Week Brings Dedicated Siri App, Messages One-Tap Suggestions, Calendar Smart Event Details

9to5Mac reports iOS 27 launches next week with a dedicated Siri app, one-tap suggestions in Messages, and Smart Event Details in Apple Calendar.

The dedicated Siri app is part of a complete rebuild of Siri for the AI era, according to the report. Apple says users can open the all-new app when they want to revisit a past conversation or start a new one. The app uses iCloud to privately sync conversational history across a user's products, allowing a chat started on Mac to continue on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or Apple Vision Pro, bringing rich conversations together in one place. Apple describes the app as a convenient home for questions and especially for chatbot-style conversations that go beyond a simple request. Because it is pre-installed on the iPhone Home Screen, 9to5Mac wrote that it could quickly become a go-to app for many users, particularly given the popularity of apps such as ChatGPT, Claude and Google Gemini.

In Messages, iOS 27 adds one-tap suggestions based on the context of a conversation. Apple says the feature makes it easier to get things done, such as creating a reminder or a note. If a user is asked for photos, Messages can help find the right ones by recognizing keywords, locations and people in the user's library. 9to5Mac noted that many messaging apps have tried to add AI through an integrated chatbot in the conversation, an approach the report's author has not favored. The author wrote that one-tap suggestions offer similar utility in many respects while being quicker and easier to use than typing out an AI request.

Apple Calendar gets Smart Event Details. 9to5Mac described it as a feature it had long wanted: natural language input for creating events. Using Apple Intelligence, a user can type an event in their own words, and iOS 27 automatically detects and fills in key details, including title, time, location and invitees. With the feature, the report said, users will not need to manually enter those details separately; they can type everything in a single line and AI will update the event accordingly.

9to5Mac said iOS 27 is packed with new features across Messages, Notes, Apple Wallet, CarPlay and more. The report highlighted the three features above as its favorites and directed readers to its full coverage for more changes. It said the software launches next week but did not give a more specific date.
