Microsoft Ships Nine Bluetooth Fixes in Windows 11 Preview Build

Microsoft is rolling out Windows 11 preview build 26200.9359 to testers with nine Bluetooth fixes covering connection status, call audio and LE Audio reliability, though earlier patches have not ended the bugs.

The update, build 26200.9359, is going out to testers through the Windows 11 preview channel, according to Windows Latest, which reported the patch notes. The nine fixes cover several areas of Bluetooth behaviour rather than a single fault, and the build is not yet available to general users; no timeline for wider release was given in the report.

One of the fixes is written to “correctly reflect” when a Bluetooth device is connected or disconnected. TechRadar reported that disconnecting a device is a slow process that can prevent a user from connecting another device straight away, and that Bluetooth malfunctions entirely when a new connection is attempted. The preview update is aimed at that behaviour.

The patch also changes audio handling during calls. A new Windows volume popup appears when the volume of a “Bluetooth Classic Audio” accessory is adjusted, and Microsoft says the reliability and performance of LE, or Low Energy, Audio accessories have been improved.

Common stuttering and random device disconnections have been reduced in the build. According to the report, that should improve stability for controllers connected over Bluetooth, including the PlayStation DualSense wireless controller.

Microsoft has said previously that Windows 11’s driver quality would be improved over the long term, and further Bluetooth work is expected to follow as part of that effort, Windows Latest reported.

The TechRadar writer who covered the update said he was not optimistic that the long-running problems are being eliminated. He noted that Microsoft has issued Bluetooth patches before and that the same bugs have survived multiple Windows 11 updates. Failing connectivity with devices and other system bugs make Windows 11 frustrating to use, particularly for gamers, he wrote, adding that SteamOS and Bazzite, a SteamOS clone, are less buggy despite some compatibility problems.

Microsoft is not ignoring the issues that affect Windows 11, the report said, and continued work on the persistent bugs would ease frustration among Windows 11 users.
